Rumour OnePlus 5

Rumour OnePlus 5

OnePlus 3 reaped a lot of praise after it was released almost 9 months ago, then followed by the work of OnePlus 3T which produced impressions that were no less positive. In 2017, OnePlus is certainly designing a successor that many people have been waiting for. What will the appearance and change of the flagship killer look like?

OnePlus might name its new product OnePlus 5. This possibility was drawn from data that appeared on the MIIT website in China that OnePlus had registered a new product named “OnePlus A5000”. If we look back a little, the product with the model number “Axxxx” is identical as a smartphone product made by OnePlus. For example, OnePlus 3 has a A3000 model number. This arrangement can be spelled out, the letter “A” signifies the main line or flagship of OnePlus phones (the letter E was once used for OnePlus X). While the number “3” has the meaning that this is the third series of OnePlus release phones. The number “0” in the middle does not indicate anything. While the number “0” then allows for an iteration of minor increases in products that already exist (it occurs in OnePlus 3T, with model number A3010). The last “0” characterizes regionally different versions (for example the number 0 for regional China). If compiled, then OnePlus A3000 will produce a sentence like this: OnePlus flagship third series for the regional China.

After the explanation above, it can be guessed that OnePlus A5000 is the model number of OnePlus 5. Then why is there no OnePlus 4? The answer turns out to be simple, some people in China argue that the number four is a number that brings bad luck or badness. That is why some products born in China tend to skip this number. For example, Meizu M3 has a successor with the name Meizu M5 without presenting Meizu M4 first.

Specification
OnePlus is allegedly going to bring some of the latest technology to be embedded in OnePlus 5. But it’s good for you, especially those who are waiting for this product not to expect too high especially if you inspire wild rumors circulating as something real. What article? Lately there have been many rumors of OnePlus 5 which have specifications far exceeding reality, various rumors to the concept of eccentric designs with ultra-thin bezels, extra jumbo batteries, fingerprint sensors under the display panel, and so on. Indeed, these things can be applied, but OnePlus, which is actually a new company and has a high specification product concept at an affordable price, will prioritize other things that are more important and really needed by potential users. Therefore, I tend to think that OnePlus 5 is limited to refreshing previous OnePlus products by implementing existing trends. Using a more sophisticated SoC or system-on-chip, dual rear camera implementation, sounds more reasonable.

Let’s get a little more detailed, OnePlus 5 will probably have a new pacemaker from Qualcomm with Snapdragon 835 type. It will have a 1080p screen with AMOLED screen panel type which may still be the same as the screen panel on OnePlus 3 / 3T. In the design sector, OnePlus 5 is rumored to have a slightly less appearance that will be similar to the Oppo R11, shaped candy bar with rounded sides. This happens because there are indications that both phones have the same base. In the back there will be two cameras with unknown resolution, possibly 16 megapixels with f / 2.0 openings. Shift slightly there will be an LED type flash. Regarding the material used, OnePlus 5 will probably still rely on the same aluminum material as its predecessor, but it does not rule out the use of other materials such as ceramics for limited edition models.

Availability & Prices
OnePlus will probably release OnePlus 5 at the end of June, the same month as its predecessor, OnePlus 3. Regarding prices, it looks like there will be an increase considering some of the improvements mentioned earlier. OnePlus 5 may be sold in the price range of 2600 to 3000 yuan depending on configuration or if converted to rupiah to around five to six million rupiah.

UPDATE # 1 (7/5/2017)
The real figure of OnePlus 5 seems to be starting to appear. This was seen shortly after Carl Pei, who is one of the co-founders of OnePlus, broadcasts stories on his personal Instagram account. The allegedly OnePlus 5 prototype was discovered by an eagle-eyed Twitter user, Suhant Mehta (@LifeOfSM). He took a screenshot of something he believes is OnePlus 5.

If seen, the picture above does look blurry and less clear. Coupled with the heavy camouflage appearance typical of mobile phones that should still be in the prototype stage, practically very little information can be extracted. But if we look carefully at the picture above it turns out there is something that can be used as an assumption, the cellphone that is being held by Carl Pei has a dual rear camera configuration. This seemed to corroborate rumors that were previously spread.

UPDATE # 2 (9/5/2017)
One of the things that awaited from OnePlus 5 is certainly in terms of runway kitchens, it is not surprising that some of the previous OnePlus phones have superior performance when associated with the price ratio. This afternoon a screenshot of the Geekbench application benchmark results is believed to belong to OnePlus 5.

Reported by GSMArena, the device claimed to be OnePlus 5 is seen scoring fantastic scores from both the single core and multi core sides. OnePlus 5 multi-core score makes its position one level above Samsung’s current flagship phone, the Galaxy S8 + which scores 6375 (multi-core). While the single core score is slightly below the Samsung Galaxy S8 + which scored 1978. From the screenshot above it also shows that the cellphone with the model number A5000 ONEPLUS is already running on the latest release operating system from Google, Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Although it cannot be confirmed whether OnePlus 5 will properly use the latest Snapdragon 835 platform, at least this update confirms that OnePlus 5 will have a faster performance like its older siblings.

UPDATE # 3 (5/15/2017)
Approaching the release of a product, it is very reasonable if we often see the flow of information on the product that is increasing rapidly. No exception for OnePlus flagship products in the future, OnePlus 5. Not wanting to be outdone by Geekbench who previously revealed a piece of information about the innards of OnePlus 5, this time it was AnTuTu’s benchmark benchmarking tool from China.

AnTuTu’s results reinforce that OnePlus 5 will be equipped with attractive specifications. Snapdragon 835, the latest operating system Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and dual rear cameras, each with a resolution of 16 MP. In the storage sector, it will be loaded with 6GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage. To some extent similar to its predecessor, OnePlus 5 is also still loyal to the Full HD 1080p resolution screen, although it is uncertain whether it uses the same type of panel as OnePlus 3.

UPDATE # 4 (5/22/2017)
A new discovery about OnePlus 5 shows that this phone has a higher speed even than some flagship phones Samsung Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel XL in terms of opening a particular application. Reported by Techradar, a number of tests carried out by selecting several applications and games such as Facebook, Gmail, and Asphalt 8: Airborne to measure the opening time of applications on each cell phone. The result, OnePlus 5 recorded a relatively shorter time compared to the two competitors. In fact, overall, OnePlus 5 excels in almost all types of applications tested. The cellphone, which until now is still mysterious, only lost in two types of applications, Google and Youtube, both of which were won by Google Pixel XL. Following are the more complete test results presented in the table:

OnePlus 5 test results
If related to some previous information, this result is quite reasonable if it occurs. Because, if we look at some of the OnePlus phones that have been circulating, the optimization made by the OnePlus team is indeed considered to be very superior. Coupled with the use of a lightweight interface close to stock, it is appropriate for OnePlus 5 to deliver brilliant performance. Moreover, supported by rumors in the fourth update which states that OnePlus 5 will only be equipped with a screen resolution of maximum 1080p (FHD). This theory makes OnePlus 5 on paper capable of executing various applications faster because the rendering process is lighter when compared to the 1440p (QHD) cellphone that is served by both challengers.

UPDATE # 5 (3/6/2017)
After a long time not updating this article because of the maze of information circulating about the latest OnePlus device, OnePlus 5 or coded with ONEPLUS A5000, tonight a fresh information entered the editorial desk. This time it discusses the elements that will later be brought to OnePlus 5 to the public, both concentrating on the design and camera sectors. Here are the new details about OnePlus 5:

Design similar to the Oppo R11
Dimensions are thinner than OnePlus 3 / 3T
New antenna design
Two rear cameras with wide lens: f / 1.7 & telephoto: f / 2.6, 2x optical zoom capability.

UPDATE # 6 (7/6/2017)

Tada! This is the true form of OnePlus 5. As if confirming the previous rumors, the form of OnePlus 5 finally revealed clearly. Exclusively through the latest article from Android Police, we can see OnePlus 5 in a form that is so similar to the Oppo R11’s distant relative, with a dual camera position behind on the top left of the body of the phone accompanied by an LED flash on the left flanking a secondary mic that is positioned exactly parallel in the middle. The angles also appear to be more rounded when compared to OnePlus 3 / 3T, which once again reinforces that there is a striking similarity between OnePlus 5 and Oppo R11 on the design side. Leaks that appear in black also show wallpaper that was leaked some time ago.

OnePlus 5 itself is confirmed to be launched on June 20, this statement even came from the company’s CEO, Pete Lau who posted a tweet on his personal Twitter account, @ petelau2007 regarding the schedule for the presence of the flagship.
