Instagram is testing a new feature that will allow your followers to add media to your post – and be visible together with their usernames on the original post.
The original user must approve this media tagging before being displayed publicly. Also, with the right to remove it anytime later, the tagged media will only appear on the original post, not the participating user’s profile or feed.
Adding Additional Content
From being a simple photo-sharing platform to a bulky social platform, Instagram has come a long way. The Meta platform has been adding new features every now and then, some borrowed from rival social platforms.
Well, the latest feature in testing is unlike any – that will allow your followers to add a photo or video to your existing post and be visible to everyone together. Tagging an additional media to the existing one is a new kind of feature for IG and we don’t fully understand the need for this as yet.

The speculation is that it allows individuals to add their self/media to a post they maybe were simply ignored in or allow friends to add relative trip photos to a major one. This new media tagging could be a new trend if accepted by the community. Initially, users need to turn on this option to let others add their media to their posts and you should accept their addition when a request appears.
When approved, the added media will be displayed along with the original post – with the participant’s username and timestamps on the post. The original post retains the right to remove the added media anytime after, as desired.
Also, the added media will only appear on the original post and not be visible on the participating user’s feed or profile. We are still waiting for some more details on this feature, so we must wait a bit longer to see how Instagram tunes this in the stable version.
