Android 12 has officially been released as per the rumors that Google might release its next major Android update on 4th October.
Usually, the next major update of Google’s operating system gets released in September every year but this time it got a little delayed.
Many were hoping the Android 12 official stable update was rolled out last month but Google surprised everyone by announcing the fifth beta update of A12 OS. But on October 4th as per the previous rumors and leaks, Google officially released Android 12 but with a surprise that no one is waiting for especially the Google Pixel owners.
Every year when the company releases an Android update, it first reaches the Pixel devices then to other OEMs. However, this time Google Pixel owner will receive the update in the coming weeks.
The surprise is that Google released the A12 source code to its Android Open Source Project. That means no pixel device owner will receive the latest update upon release that is on 4th October.
However, the code release on Open source projects means that many other OEMs will use the code and start developing their Android 12 based custom ROM. There are also chances that we might see the Android 12 based update for some other OEM on their community. OEMs like Oppo and Realme started working on their version of the official A12 update using the code from the open-source project.
The big surprise is for the pixel owners as they have to wait a few weeks more to get the official stable update. There are chances that the search giant is waiting for its Pixel 6 series launch. We hope that Android 12 will launch for all pixel devices along with the launch of the Pixel 6 series which is slated to launch in the second half of this month.
The Pixel 6 series brings some design changes especially on the rear side from the official teaser and leaks. Android 12 is mostly about the visual changes as it brings a new system-wide theme which Google calls “Material You”. The new theme will allow users to apply home screen wallpaper colors to the whole device theme including the color of the icons. Just like every Android update over the past few years, we expect that some A12 features will only be restricted to the Pixel 6 series at the start and might move to other OEMs later.
Later this year, OEMs like Oppo, Realme, Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Tecno, Infinix will release the official A12 update for some of their devices especially the flagship.
