Asus Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro are the latest devices to get the stable Android 12 update through the OTA update. The update brings all the Android 12 features and bug fixes to issues that were present on the device previously. The Android 12 update for the said devices has already been rolled out officially and the company claims that it would reach all users in a few days. Both these devices also became the latest Asus devices to get the Android 12 update. Previously, the company released the Android 12 update for it’s Asus Zenfone 8 series back in December 2021.
The news about the update rollout was also shared on the company’s Zentalk community forum. With the update, both the Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro gets the firmware version 31.0210.0210.250.
Now the users get the Android 12 like a notification tray, a new volume panel, and an adjusted quick settings tray. There are also Android 12-like widgets of different apps in different sizes for the home screen. Additionally, Asus replaced it’s safeguard feature with a stock emergency SOS number and there is no SIP calling option on the default dialer this time after the update.
The company also updated some of the app icons in the new update such as data transfer, setup wizard, system update, local backup, mobile manager, contacts app, and more. The new update also brings the Android 12 security and privacy features like an updated Google Pixel-inspired privacy dashboard, microphone and camera indicator, approximate location access, and microphone access.
Asus has instructed all the users to first create a backup of all their important data before updating their Zenfone 7 or 7 Pro to Android 12. This is because if at any time you want to downgrade your device to Android 11 again then during the downgrading process all of your device data will be formatted. So in this case a backup will help you to recover all of your important data.
Users will get the update like a normal OTA update and they don’t need to go out of the box to install the update. Zenfone 7 and 7 Pro users head over to the settings apps – systems – system update and tap on check update. If the update is not available then be patient as it will take a few days for the update to reach every user.
