The pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto is now in the top 100 list of the world’s wealthiest people. He/she/their holdings from the first peer-to-peer virtual currency are now worth over $73 billion, considering the recent price rally of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin’s white paper was released in 2008, with the first coin coming out in January 2009. It’s said that Satoshi Nakamoto holds anywhere between 750,000 to 1.1 million Bitcoins, but has been inactive for over a decade. All the Bitcoin wallets tagged to him show no activity since 2010.

Yet, the dormant funds make Nakamoto the 15th richest person in the world right now. This position is above Walmart heirs Jim and Rob Walton! Bitcoin is now trading at around $65,000, gaining over 300% from last year’s depression.

And there are forecasts predicting the coin to be valued at over $100,000 by the end of this year. In that case, Nakamoto will jump into the top 10 wealthiest people in the world.

His holdings have grown more than 10 million times since he created the coin. Several attempts were made to track him down, with few people coming forward claiming to be Nakamoto too. One of them includes Australian programmer Craig Wright, who proclaimed himself as the creator of Bitcoin.

While there’s no substantial evidence supporting his claims, another person named Hal Finney was named as potential Nakamoto. He’s an early cryptocurrency adopter, and the first person to receive Bitcoin from an online transaction.

Also, people have tagged a Japanese-American computer scientist Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto to be the one, which too was quashed later.
