After testing it for quite a long, WhatsApp is finally bringing disappearing messages to all users this month.
The core function of this feature is to automatically delete the messages after some time. Users will now be able to enable disappearing messages on options on all chats. All the messages with this feature enabled will automatically delete after seven days. Users can use this feature on all chats which include personal chats or in the group conversation.
According to the WhatsApp spokesperson:
“We’re starting with seven days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about. The shopping list or store address you received a few days ago will be there while you need it and then disappear after you don’t.”
All the messages with this feature will be deleted after seven days including the media content. If the user enables this feature in the media content then all images, documents, videos, Gifs will also be deleted.
Users can always take screenshots of the messages or copy it before it disappears permanently. And the good thing is that the messages will be removed for both the sender and receiver.
WhatsApp is gradually rolling out this feature and it will be available for everyone. This new feature will not be enabled automatically. Users have to enable it for every chat manually. It can’t be enabled for every chat at once. And this feature is not applicable to all the older chats. Once the feature is enabled to a chat or group then it will be applicable for all the new messages in that chat.
The Facebook-owned popular social media app has tested and brought many new features this year. A few days back WhatsApp started rolling new storage management tool for all the users. This new tool will help them to delete unwanted media files very easily. It will help all the users to clear up the storage which is eaten up by all the junk media files.
