  1. Update the USB Audio Device Driver

If you are using an outdated USB driver, this issue can occur. You can try fixing your USB drivers to check whether the issue is solved. Go through the steps below for updating your USB drivers:

  • First, go to the Windows taskbar and right-click on the speaker icon.
  • Next, click on the sounds option and go to the playback tab.
  • Now, navigate to your playback device from the list and double-click on the playback device to open its properties.
  • Select properties and go to the change settings option.
  • Now, go to the driver tab and select the update driver option.
  • Here, you will need to click on the “browse my computer for drivers” option.
  • Now, select the option “let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer “.
  • Select the device, which should be a USB audio device, followed by selecting the next button to install the driver.
  • Once the driver is installed on your computer, restart it to apply the changes.
  1. Change Speaker or Headset Audio Settings (Xbox)

If you are an Xbox user, you can try changing the settings of your speaker or headset to eliminate this issue. Here are the steps to follow to do that:

  • First, choose Halo Infinite if it is already running in the background.
  • Now you will need to press the Xbox button on the controller and use the RB button to select the profile and system icon.
  • Next, go to the settings option and select audio and volume output under the general tab.
  • Now, set the HDMI audio to stereo uncompressed if you are using the speaker audio setting.
  • You must ensure it is not set to a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound option.
  • If you use the headset audio setting, you will need to set the headset format to stereo uncompressed or “Windows Sonic for Headphones”.

  1. Disable Hands-free Telephony in Control Panel

You can try to turn off the hands-free telephony settings and check if it helps you. In most cases, this option is turned on by default, and you will need to disable it. Follow the steps below for that:

  • First, close the game if it is running in the background.
  • Press the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keys to open the task manager and click on the processes tab.
  • Select the Halo infinite game from the list that you can see on your computer.
  • Now, click on the end task option followed by clicking on the Windows search bar or the search menu to find the control panel.
  • Go to the hardware and sound option and click on the devices and printers option.
  • Under the devices section, find your pair of headphones and double-click on them to open.
  • Now, go to the hardware tab and select the properties option.
  • Go to the services tab and uncheck the Hands-free telephony checkbox.
  • Select apply.
  • Now, select OK to save the changes and reboot your computer.
  1. Turn Off the Microphone in Settings

  • First, click on the start menu or press the Windows key and go to the settings option.
  • Now, select the system and go to the sound option.
  • Scroll down and go to related settings under the advanced sound option, then select the sound control panel option.
  • Now, from the playback tab, select headphones with stereo, followed by selecting the set default option.
  • Go to the recording tab and scroll down to your headset’s microphone.
  • Now, click on the microphone and disable it.
  • If you already have an alternative microphone, you can also set it.
  1. Turn Off Communications in Sound Control Panel

Turning off the communications in the sound control panel is advised to eliminate this issue. Follow the steps below to do that:

First, press Windows + I keys and open Settings.

Now, click on the system option from the left pane.

Go to the sound option and scroll down to the related settings option.

Now, you will need to select the control panel and go to the related settings option under the advanced sound option.

Next, go to the communication tab and click on the ‘do nothing’ option.

Click on the apply button and then OK to save the changes

  1. Change the Privacy option in Settings

As the last option, you can change the privacy in settings. Follow the below steps for that:

Head to the Windows search bar first and type privacy followed by opening it.

Now, go to the microphone option and turn off the ” allow apps to access your microphone option”.

Scroll down and turn off the ‘Allow desktop apps to access your microphone option.

Once you are done changing your privacy settings, simply reboot your PC and apply the changes.
