After months of testing, Google finally released the official Android 11 update. Visually Android 11 looks like the previous versions of the android but it brings few changes, new features and Under the hood improvements.
Right now, Android 11 is available for Google Pixel devices and devices from Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme and Oppo. Google is working hard with other OEMs to get the update for as many users as it can. If you buy an android smartphone this year or last year then you should get this Android 11 update sooner or later depending on your OEM.
The most highlighted features of the Android 11 are the New Quick Controls, Notification shades, chat bubbles and Privacy improvement.
Here are the new features, Android 11 will bring to the Users.
Quick Controls:
To access the quick controls, you need to long-press the power button after installing the Android 11. In the previous versions of Android, you only get the power option when you long-press the power button. But this time you will get a few more options along with the power option.
on the top of the Quick Controls, you will get all your power options which include Emergency, Power Off and Restart option. You will get a Google pay option where you can add a debit/credit card or any other E-wallet to pay from mobile directly. Below Google Pay, you will find all your smart home devices which you previously linked with Google assistant.
If you haven’t linked any device with Google Assistant then you will have the option to add smart home devices. You can control all your smart home devices from here which is great if you frequently use smart home devices.
Notification Shade:
Google adds a little change to the Notification Shade in Android 11. In the new updates, all your notifications are grouped together depending on their category. On the top, you will always see notifications from the messaging apps which are grouped under the “Conversations’ ‘ section.
In the conversation, you will only see notifications from all your messaging apps. With this, you won’t miss any important message as it is always shown on the top of the notification shade.
Messaging Bubble:
This feature is very helpful for those who engage in a long conversation. It is similar to the “ChatHead” feature you get with the Facebook messenger. Upon activating you will see a bubble with the avatar of the person or the icon of the messaging app.
You will read and reply to the messages from that messaging bubble without opening the app. When you are done with the conversation just hold the bubble and you will see the cross mark at the bottom of the screen. Drag the bubble to that cross mark and it will be removed.
Next time when a message comes, you need to again activate the bubble if you want it otherwise you can read and reply to the message by opening the app. In order to activate the bubble, you need to tap on the bubble icon you see on the button corner of the message notification.
New Music Controls:
Android 11 also brings new music controls. The music controls are now made part of the quick settings instead of the notification shade. When you open any music, a small music box appears on the bottom of the quick settings. All your music control options like Play/Pause, go back, skip and go forward will be available.
Screen Recorder:
Before this, you need to rely on the third-party screen recorder on your android devices. There are plenty of screen recorders available on the play store from many manufacturers but with that, there is always a security risk.
Built-in screen recorders will help you to quickly record your screen when you want to share something with others. You don’t need to rely on a third-party app this time. Screen Recorder shortcut will be available in the quick settings panels. Just tap on the icon and screen recorder will start recording whatever you are doing on the screen. You will get the option to stop the recording at the bottom of the screen when tap on it the recording will stop and autosaves on your device.
New Recent Apps:
Few changes are also made in the recent app section. This time you will find a screenshot option at the bottom of the recent apps and bigger app tiles.
App Suggestions:
App suggestions will take place on the App dock. In-App suggestion you will see the most used apps just like you see on the top of your app drawer. You have the option between the app drawer or the app suggestion. In the app drawer, you will get to choose the five apps you want to appear on the dock. The apps in the app suggestion always change depending on your app usage.
