Google's Pixel-Branded Foldable Smartphone is in Works

After hitting the premium Android market, Google is now going after the foldable OEMs, too – with it’s own Pixel-branded foldable phone.

A leak from a Chinese source revealed that Google contracted Foxconn to manufacture it’s Pixel foldable phone, and it is underway already. This could be named Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad and comes with a 5.85″ display and camera as a Pixel 5 phone.

To stop Samsung from ruling the premium Android smartphone market, OnePlus and Pixel showed up, taking a bite of the big pie in their own ways. While other Android OEMs are competing against Samsung, they’re only trying to level in the regular smartphone market.

The foldable smartphone market is still nascent, with only a handful of players in it. And again, Samsung is the dominant player here too. To ditch it, Google is making it’s own Pixel-branded foldable phoneas reported by a Chinese leaker.

The report says that Foxconn has started mass producing Google’s rumored Pixel foldable – called Pixel Fold or as Pixel Notepad. And with Google hinting at this potential device through it’s Google Camera app previously, we can expect a device of such in the works.

More leaks suggest the upcoming foldable resemble the OPPO Find N and features a 5.85″ cover display and 12.2MP +16MP cameras similar to Pixel 5.

It’s also revealed that Foxconn is working on the Pixel 7 Ultra, too – a stepped-up version of Pixel 7 Pro. This Ultra variant is said to come with a 2K display, a 100MP Sony IMX787 sensor, and a 50MP ISOCELL GN1 periscope camera. It’s also rumored to be made of a ceramic body!
