Users usually like the full-screen mode while playing games or watching videos. Most users find it very annoying that they can’t hide the taskbar of their windows. But, most users don’t know that they can hide the taskbar and enjoy the full-screen mode. Yes, you heard t right. You can select the functionality for hiding the taskbar to enjoy the full-screen mode on your windows.

Hiding the taskbar on the windows will make a tiny bit of space on your PC screen, which will also make the desktop look more clean and tidy, plus you will notice that it looks good when the taskbar is hidden.

Latest Windows 10 ships with the same feature of hiding the taskbar from the desktop as previously launched windows versions. The functionality of hiding the taskbar from the desktop can be controlled through a preference which you may find it in the Settings option.

You just need to go to the settings and click on personalization tab. In the personalization tab, you will find an option for the taskbar. Click on the taskbar option. In the taskbar option, you will find two options that will manage the auto-hiding functionality of the taskbar.

The first one will be “Hiding the taskbar in the desktop mode automatically”. And, the second one will be “Automatically hiding the taskbar in tablet mode.

When any of the features is enables, considering the condition whether you are hiding the taskbar for windows or a tablet, the taskbar is hidden automatically by the operating system. However, the taskbar will come in view when you bring your mouse cursor over the taskbar area.

It might happen that even after enabling the feature of hiding the taskbar, the taskbar still shows up and does not go away anymore.

It might be due to some application running in the background that needs your attention. The application icon will flash in this case in the taskbar of your windows. If you want the taskbar to hide, then you just need to take any action on the application requiring your attention. All you need to do is, click on the application and take the required action. The taskbar shall go away after taking the required action.

Restart Windows Explorer

It might happen, even after all the applications on your system are silent, the taskbar does not hide. There is a quick fix to the issue. You just need to restart the Windows Explorer for that matter.

For restarting the windows explorer, you need to launch the windows task manager. Over there, you need to locate the windows explorer process under processes and click on it. Over there you will find the restart button. Click on it.

After enabling the functionality of hiding the taskbar, you might see it still does not go away even when no application is running in the background. The easiest way and a method to make it go away, in some cases, is to click on the space on your desktop.

Also, make sure to verify that your preferences are still enabled on hiding the taskbar automatically. It might happen that the preferences did not apply.

You need to make sure, that your windows are upgraded. It might happen that your windows are upgraded. In that case, also, the taskbar might not hideaway.

Now, there can be the applications that are running in the background but their icon is not displayed on the taskbar. This can be because the application icon is hidden and is not displayed directly on the taskbar. In such cases, you might need to go back to the personalization menu and click on the taskbar.

Over there, you need to go to the notification section and “select which icons should appear on the taskbar” option.
