Honor Magic Vs

Honor today announced it’s second Gen foldable flagship device – Honor Magic Vs. It is the successor of Honor Magic V which launched earlier this year. The main focus of the new flagship device is on the improved hinge. The device has the same form factor as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and is competing with it in China. The device is currently available in China and the global availability is not known yet. Check out the details below.

Honor Magic Vs Specifications:

Honor focused on the seamless folding experience with it’s first foldable device that launched earlier this year. With the second iteration, they have focused on the hinge of the device as the device has a new hinge technology. The device is 7 grams lighter than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and 27 grams lighter than it’s predecessor due to fewer components used in the hinge.

The device has a cover display of a 6.45-inch OLED panel with a 2560×1080 pixel resolution, a 21:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz fast refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. When unfolding, there is a 7.9-inch OLED display panel with 2272×1984 pixels resolution but a slightly lower 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 800 nits. Both the cover and the inner display are the same as Honor Magic V.

Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset based on 5nm architecture with Adreno 730 GPU. The chipset is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. The device comes in 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB of storage variants. There is also a 16GB RAM variant that also has the support of the stylus Magic Pen that the company launched with the device.

Honor Magic Vs has a triple rear camera setup that includes a 54MP Sony IMX800 primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and an 8MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, there is a 16MP front camera with f/2.45 aperture on the cover display. Honor did not disclose the specifications of the camera on the inner display which will mostly be used for video calls and meetings.

The device is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery that supports 66W wired fast charging and Honor claims that the device can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 46 minutes with this amount of charging. It runs on Honor’s custom skin MagicOS 7.0 on top of Android 12 out of the box. It is a bit disappointing as Google officially released Android 13 for all devices.
