Google docs page numbers

Page numbers on documents especially long ones, help in keeping a track of the content. It also makes it easier to print and identify them. Google doesn’t assign page numbers to the pages automatically, but you can always go ahead and insert them. The process is quite simple and here is how to assign your Google docs page numbers.

Method I – How to Number All Pages in Google Docs

Open the document you wish to add page numbers to

Select Insert and then select Header & Page Number

Select Page Number

You can add page numbers to the header of every page or add the page numbers to the footer of all the pages

Once this is done the page numbers are added to the header or footer, depending on what you have selected

Method II – How to Begin Numbering from Page 2

Many users would like to exclude the cover page of the documents and begin numbering from the second page. So, the second page would be numbered as one (1). Here is how you can begin numbering from page 2 on Google docs.

Open the document you wish to add page numbers to

Select Insert and then select Header & Page Number

Select Page Number

Select the option which lets you add page numbers to the header of every page excluding the first page or to add page numbers to the footer of every page excluding the first page

Once this is done the page numbers are added to the header or footer, depending on what you have selected

Follow the processes above to number your Google docs so that you can keep a track of the content by creating an index for the content you created.
