How To Block Text Messages On Your Pixel 3

Text messages on all smartphones are enabled to be received by the user. However, there may be certain promotional messages which you would like to receive. Alternatively, there may be some people from whom you wouldn’t like to receive messages for probably personal reasons. However, you have an option to stop receiving such messages. Here is how to block text messages on Google Pixel 3.

Method I: Block Using the Messages App by Adding Contact Details

In the first method, you can block text messages from the Messages App.

Go to Messages App on your Pixel 3 phone

Tap on Menu which is the 3 vertical dots on the top right-hand side of the phone

Tap on Blocked Contacts

Add the number that you wish to block

Confirm your action by clicking on OK

The number which you have entered will not be able to send you text messages anymore.

Method II: Block Using Messages App from Message Thread

In the second method also you can block a number from Messages App but in a different way.

Go to Messages App on your Pixel 3 phone

Long press on the messages threat that you no longer wish to receive messages from

In the prompt that you get, click on the option which asks you to block the contact

Tap on the option and the contact will no longer be able to send you any text messages

Method III: Block Using Phone App

In the third method, you can block the text messages from the Phone App

Go to the Phone app

Tap on the contact number that you wish to block and open their call history

At the bottom of their call history, you will get an option to Block the contact

Click on the Block icon and confirm the action by clicking again on Block

Doing this will block both calls and messages from the contact that you just blocked

If in near future you would like to unblock the numbers that you have blocked, then you can do so from the Settings.

Follow any one of the instructions above and block text messages on your Pixel 3 phone. Most Google phones have the same settings so the instructions mentioned above will work for other Pixel phones and several other Android phones too.
