How to Connect Bluetooth Headphones to Your Computer

Bluetooth devices are in great demand nowadays. From Bluetooth speakers to the mouse, keyboard, and headphones, etc. all these devices can be connected to your computer or laptop without any wires or jacks. The first and most useful thing about Bluetooth enabled devices is that they are very convenient in nature. A Bluetooth device saves you from the trouble of wires which frequently gets damaged and needs to be changed. Another benefit of using a Bluetooth device in comparison to a wired device is that you can use it from anywhere within the range.

Speakers and Headphones are among the most popular Bluetooth device. So here, we will tell you some simple steps using which you can connect a Bluetooth speaker or headphone to your computer.

But before proceeding make sure your computer has Bluetooth support. Most of the advanced computer comes with inbuilt Bluetooth support. However, older models lack this feature. If your computer is not Bluetooth enabled, first of all, you need to buy a USB Bluetooth adapter. A Bluetooth adapter looks like a pen drive and can be plugged into a USB port.

Once you have installed a Bluetooth device and its drivers you can proceed to the steps.

In order to use a Bluetooth speaker or headset, it must be paired up with your computer.

The steps for pairing a Bluetooth device is slightly different for different version of Windows.

Steps to Connect Bluetooth Headphones to Your Computer

Windows 7

First, make sure your Bluetooth device is discoverable. For this I recommend you to check the user manual or visit their official website.

Now go to start menu and then click on Devices and Printers.

Click on Add a device option. Now select your device and click the Next button.

Follow any other on-screen instructions and you are done.

Your Bluetooth device will start working automatically when it is in range with Bluetooth turned on.

How to Connect Bluetooth Headphones to Your Computer

Windows 8

Make sure the device is discoverable. If you don’t know how it’s done check the user manual.

Now click on the Start button.

Search for Bluetooth settings by typing Bluetooth.

From the search list, select the Bluetooth Settings option.

This will take you to the settings window.

Here turn on the Bluetooth and then search for the device you want to connect.

Click on pair button.

Your device is now paired with your computer.

Your Bluetooth device will start working automatically when it is in range with Bluetooth turned on.

Windows 10

In the latest Windows 10 first turn on the PC’s Bluetooth. For this click on Action center icon on the taskbar. Now make sure your device is also discoverable.

Click on Bluetooth icon to turn it on.

Now go to Action centre and click on Connect.

Your computer will now search for Bluetooth devices which are in its range.

Click on your Speaker or Headphone name to pair it with PC.


Your Bluetooth device will start working automatically when it is in range with Bluetooth turned on.

Mac Computers

If you are using a Mac computer, the process of adding a Bluetooth speaker or headset is a little different from that of Windows. So here is how you can do it:-

Turn on your speaker or headphone and place it near your PC.

Now click on Bluetooth icon on your Mac. It is present on the left side of the taskbar.

If you don’t find any such icon here go to Apple menu and then to System Preferences. Now click on Bluetooth.

On the Bluetooth, dialog box click on Open Bluetooth Preferences option.

This will open the Bluetooth settings menu. Here enable the Bluetooth by clicking the Turn Bluetooth On button.

Click the pair button and then tap the name of your speaker or headset.

This will establish the Bluetooth connection between the two.

Now you can play your Mac computer’s music through the paired headphone or speaker.

This way you can easily add your Bluetooth speaker or headset or any other Bluetooth device to your PC. Always remember that your Bluetooth device is only going to work if it is in range with your computer.
