Disable Live Text On iPhone

Live Text introduced in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 is one of the most charming features. Everyone is finding it handy and useful. With live text, you can easily copy, translate or select any text included in images, screenshots, and even handwritten notes.

The Live Text feature is simply a method of recognizing text in photos with the help of optical character recognition, i.e. OCR. However, the feature is dependent on hardware integration, so it won’t be available for all. For using the live text feature, your iPhone or iPad must have A12 Bionic chip or later run iOS 15 or iPad OS 15.

But, sometimes, it feels irritating when you have to zoom in on any picture, and it shows the live text copying option. However, every good thing has some cons that need to be ignored. And if you want to disable Live Text on iPhone or iPad, follow these simple steps:

How to disable Live Text on iPhone and iPad

The live text feature on iPhone and iPad is the most useful, but anytime it can be more than an annoyance, and you can turn it off. Mainly, there are two methods. One lets you disable at the system level. Here are the steps for that:

Go to ‘Settings’ and then tap ‘General’ on our device.

Then, click on Language & Region.

Turn off live Text.

From now, everything at the system level will disappear, i.e. in-camera and images both.

But, if you want the live Text feature to be disabled only for the camera, then you co do that simply by:

Go to iPhone Settings, tap ‘Camera’.

Then, turn off the show detected Text Option.

With this, now you are free from any option appearing in the corner of each photo that has texts in it.

Pro-tip

The Live-text feature enabling or disabling doesn’t reflect immediately. You might have to force quit the images, camera, safari and re-open it.
