How to Edit a PDF on a Mac

Some of the default options that are available in the default PDF editor for Mac are:

You can enter your own text in the PDF file and change the layout, font, size and color of the text. This text can be dragged around the document and place it anywhere you like.

You can add different shapes to create text boxes which can also be used to hide texts that you don’t want to be seen.

There is a sign button which lets you add your own signature to the PDF document. Most of us usually add our signature to Mac, but you haven’t then you can sign on a paper and click its picture then add it to your MacBook.

You can even add Notes to this document. These are text boxes which can be added beside a word or phrase carrying the required explanation that you want the reader to go through. Notes are small when seen normally, but when the mouse is hovered, they expand to reveal the information contained within it.

Once you have made the changes, you should Save the file to ensure the changes have been saved to the PDF file.

Method II: How to Edit PDF on MacBook With a Third Party App (we have used PDF Expert you can download a third-party app of your choice. The steps are mostly same for all such PDF editing apps.)

Download PDF Expert and Install the app on your MacBook.

By default, the default PDF Preview editor opens when you double click on the PDF file to open.

You need to the right click on the PDF and then point the mouse to Open With where you will get several options for different apps. Look for PDF Expert and then click on it to open your PDF with the app. Usually, PDF Expert option is right on top of the options given.

You can even open the PDF Expert app and then drag and drop the PDF file that you want to edit in the marked space to make changes. You can alternatively click on Select File option in the PDF Expert app.

Once the PDF file is open with PDF Expert, you can click on the Edit button right on top to begin making the changes.

Some of the changes that you can make in the PDF file with this app are:

You can delete old words, write new words, copy and paste text in the PDF file. You can also change the size of the font and the color. All you need to do is click on a blank page in the PDF file to save your changes.

You also have the option insert a new image or remove an image from the file. The image can be dragged around and adjusted anywhere on the page. The size of the image can also be changed.

You can add links on the text or images in the PDF file that you are editing with PDF Expert. You can pick to link from web or page.

Using a third-party app like PDF Expert gives you access to many more unique features that you don’t get with the default Mac editor Preview. One of the top advantages of PDF Expert over Preview is that you cannot delete any text on Preview instead you will have to cover it with a shape and then write on top of it in a text box. PDF Expert lets you delete old text and even add new words in its place.

Follow these easy steps and pick an app of your choice to edit a PDF file on your MacBook.
