Edit PDFs on iPhone or iPad

Previously, users needed to install a third-party app like PDF expert and Good reader app to edit PDFs on iPhone and iPad. However, after the release of iOS 11, Apple finally provides a built-in way to edit PDFs on your iPhone and iPad. Before iOS 11, you had to use a third-party app to edit PDFs. Now, you can do it right on your device.

If you just need to make a few simple edits to a PDF, the built-in Apple PDF editor will probably suffice. If you need to sign or make changes to a PDF document on your iPhone or iPad, no need to download any third-party apps. Yes, it’s pretty easy. As PDFs can’t be edited or signed in a word processing app, sometimes it causes frustration when you are in a hurry. But, luckily iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 come with the built-in Markup tool.

Here we have penned down a brief on how to edit PDFs on your iPhone or iPad. Keep reading!

Steps to edit PDFs on iPhone or iPad:

Open the PDF document that you want to edit in the Files app

Tap to open the files

With the help of the preview screen, swipe up and down to navigate to different pages in your PDF

Once the file is open in the Files app, tap on the “Edit” button in the top-right corner. From there, you can use various tools to edit the PDF. You can add text, images, signatures, highlights, and more.

You can use Markup tools present at the top right corner for in-page edits

When you are done with the editing job, tap on the “Done” button in the top-right corner

That’s all there is to it! Now you can easily edit PDFs right on your iPhone or iPad.

Pro Tip:

If you need to do more than just make a few simple edits, you’ll need to use a third-party app. PDF Expert is a good option. With PDF Expert, you can annotate PDFs, fill out forms, sign documents, and more.

To edit a PDF with PDF Expert, simply open the PDF in the app and tap on the pencil icon at the upper right side. From there, you can make all the edits you need. Tap on the “Done” button at the upper right corner once done and then choose how you want to share your edited PDF.

Important Note:

Before editing any PDF file, make sure that the file is downloaded and saved on your iPhone so that it would be easily matched with the previous one.
