Instagram has a feature that will auto-generate captions for videos on both iOS and Android. In this article, we will show you how to enable this feature and why anyone needed this feature.

Enable captions on Instagram:

The first thing that we want to share is that this feature is currently available in some countries and works with the English language only. So, if you don’t see this caption auto-generate feature in your profile then you have to wait for a little, this feature will be available for you soon as Instagram is working on providing this feature for everyone.

Also, the auto-generated captions may not be accurate as they are being generated immediately with the flow of the voice in the video. So, there are cases where you may get a little wrong caption.

Why do you need this feature?

There are many instances where this feature is very handy. The most useful scenario of this feature is that you have no handsfree or you forget your handsfree and you don’t want to play Instagram video loud in the public or in front of someone. So, you will see the video on mute, and with this feature enabled at least you get to know what the video is about through the caption as the App auto-generates text based on the audio in the video.

How to enable it?

  • Open the Instagram app.
  • Tap on your profile icon at bottom of the app.
  • Tap on three lines at the top of the profile page
  • Select settings
  • Tap on accounts
  • Select captions
  • Turn the toggle on

After enabling this feature, you will see auto-generated captions in English on the videos in the app if it is available in your country.

We have tested this feature in a couple of videos and it’s super useful when you want to know the context of the video if you don’t want to play the video open and loud.
