Reset a Locked iPhone

Apple’s latest OS version provides the option to erase and reset a locked iPhone or iPad without connecting it to a PC or Mac. This Security Lockout feature is included in Apple’s iOS and iPadOS 15.2 updates. If you have mistakenly locked your iPhone or iPad, you can use this feature to erase or reset your devices safely. Besides, you will be able to restore your data from an iCloud backup.

Lastly, remember, after numerous unsuccessful attempts to enter the correct passcode on the iPhone or iPad, the Security Lockout option to delete data is enabled ultimately. Moreover, the device must be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or a mobile network.

Although it may seem that outsiders can remove your data using this feature, this is not the case because the process requires your Apple ID to be completed. If you wonder how to do that, just follow these steps to natively reset your iPhone and iPad.

After you repeatedly enter the wrong passcode several times, you will see the Security Lockout feature become activated on your iPhone/iPad’s screen.

Then, tick on the Erase button again to confirm

Next, enter your Apple ID password to sign out of it on your device.

Click on Erase iPhone/iPad to permanently delete all of your data and settings

After that, when the iOS device restarts, follow the onscreen instructions to restore your data and settings from a backup and set a new passcode.
