How to Find and Delete Duplicate Songs in iTunes

It’s always better to get rid of the duplicates as it can save huge space on your system, be it a smartphone or a PC. Similarly, if you have a hefty iTunes library and you want to get rid of the duplicates, just find the duplicate songs and delete them straight away. But, wondering how to delete duplicate songs in iTunes? The process is very simple. iTunes comes with an in-built option to identify the duplicate songs. So, what you need to do is just find them and delete from the library. The process is explained below in details.

How to delete duplicate songs in iTunes:

First, launch iTunes on your Mac or Windows PC that you are using.

There is a drop-down list just near that top-left corner of the screen. Tap on that and choose Music from there.

Next select songs under Music which will allow you to see a list of songs.

Click on the View option and go to All Music.

Now, go to file> Library> Show Duplicate items. You will see a list of duplicate songs identified by iTunes. The songs can be a remix, part of an album or same song from different artists. You can then delete that you do not want.

Now, hold down Command and click on the titles to choose the one that you want to delete, drag them to the trash to delete

One disadvantage of this method is that, you will not find out the exact duplicate songs. For example, if you have a song with its original version and remix version, exact duplicate items will not consider them as duplicate. Here is how to delete exact duplicate songs.

Launch iTunes on Mac or PC.

Go to the Songs view as above.

For Mac, hold down the Option key and tap on File. Next, go to Library> show Exact Duplicate

If you are using Windows PC, then hold down the SHIFT key and tap on View. Here you will see the Exact duplicate items.

Now, select the required songs and delete it from iTunes.
