Pixel 6 And 6 Pro Screen Flickering issue

Google Pixel is an amazing smartphone by Google that has unique features, but since Google has launched Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 pro, we can see that users are complaining about facing different glitches on the device. Google has tried to fix the glitches through updates, but there are still some glitches that Google has not fixed yet. The display of screen flickering is one of those common glitches reported by users, and this glitch is still unsolved. Previously, this issue used to occur when using the power button. Nowadays, users are reporting that they face the issue when the screen refresh rate switches between 60Hz and 90Hz. The system automatically switches between that refresh rate. There are also many cases reported where users face color shifting (a color difference in screen) along with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro screen flickering issue.

Why does this happen?

Although the issue has no clear explanation, we can say that it is one of the most common glitches of Pixel 6 and 6 pros. It happens because of a bug present in the system.

The users were not expected to have these types of issues in a premium-level smartphone. Google tried to solve this issue in their January update, but recently, reports through the official google issue tracker have confirmed that the bug is still in the system. It means we have to wait longer to get a solution from Google authority.

Though Google hasn’t said any word about the solution to this issue, we have got some troubleshooting methods from the users who have benefited from these methods. They’ve posted about these methods online.

How to fix Pixel 6 And 6 Pro Screen Flickering issue:

It is clear now that users face the Pixel 6 screen flickering issue while the refresh rates change between 90 HZ and 60 HZ. So, if you can maintain the rate to only 90 Hz or only 60 HZ, you can probably get rid of this issue. Follow the steps here to maintain the refresh rate.

Maintain the refresh rate to 90 HZ:

To maintain the refresh rate to 90HZ, follow the steps mentioned below:

Go to the settings option of your system

Now, navigate to the Dev option

Here you’ll find the force peak refresh rate. Select that.

Now, your refresh rate will be 90 Hz.

Though it is one of the troubleshooting methods used by benefited users, it also has a bad side. If you choose this option, your phone battery may drain soon due to the constant 90Hz rate. So, if you are concerned about the battery life of your Pixel phone, try out the next method.

Maintain the refresh rate to 60 Hz:

Follow the steps mentioned below to maintain the refresh rate to 60 Hz:

  • Go to the settings option first on your phone
  • Turn off the high refresh rate option.

In this method, the battery life will not drain fast, but you’ll not be able to experience the smoother screen scrolling rate, response timing, or other things you could get with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Choose any one between these two methods to get rid of the issue until Google introduces a solution for this issue.

Conclusion

We hope Google will introduce a new update to solve this issue as soon as possible. The Google authority has started rolling out a new February 2022 update, and we hope that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro screen flickering issue will get solved after that as this is so weird to face this kind of inconvenience in a premium level phone like Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.
