Last week, Facebook issues a statement in which the social network giant raises concerns over the Apple iOS 14 update. According to Facebook, Apple’s iOS 14 will heavily impact its business partner and Audience Network Platform.

Apple has made compulsory for the users to opt for the Targeted Advertisement in iOS 14 which will release in the coming months. With this, users will not willingly allow Facebook and other advertisers or app to keep track of their internet usage and send them ads.

So how about restricting Apple’s add tracking system on the iPhone. This is only feasible in Apple’s ad network. You can do it on your iPhone before in your current version on iOS.

You can follow the steps to limit the Targeted ads on the iPhone.

Why you should limit ad tracking?

The answer to this is the privacy concern. Ad tracking is a controversial topic and many advertisers track user’s personal information. Many companies keep track of user’s internet presence.

You often see the addition of a product on Facebook and Instagram you just search it on Google or Amazon. This is the way advertisers keep an eye on the user’s online presence and search history.

By opting out from the ad tracking you restrict advertisers to keep tracking your activities over the internet.

The changes you made to restrict ad tracking will be limited to Apple’s ad advertisement network. This means it only affects the app store, apple stock apps, and apple news advertisement. After the release of the iOS 14, you will be able to restrict it to other advertisers also.

Limit the ad Tracking:

You can limit the ad tracking on your iPhone or iPad by just changing a few things in the settings. 

  • Open “Settings”.
  • You will find the “Privacy option”, Tap on it.
  • Tap on “Advertising” on the bottom of the page.
  • There you will have the option “Limit Ad tracking
  • The option will be disabled by default
  • You have to enable it by sliding the toggle next to it.
  • After that, click on the option below which says “Reset Advertising Identifier”.

By making the above changes in the settings, all your advertising information which is linked to your account and devices will be reset. Apple will not be able to send you targeted ads by using the same information from now on. And it didn’t affect the usability of your phone and its services. Everything will be normal only you will see the difference in the advertisement.

After the changes, Apple will collect less information from you and your advertising profile will be the new one. You will see mostly relate advertisements which don’t relate to you and there will be fewer advertisements.

You can further reduce the ads by switching off the location-based advertisement. To do that follow the steps below.

  • Open “Settings”.
  • You will find the “Privacy option”, Tap on it.
  • There you find “Location Service”, tap on it.
  • Then go to “systems services”.
  • You will find “Location-Based Apple Ads”. Turn off the toggle from that option.

When the changes are made:

You will find noticeable changes in the number of ads. The ads are reduced to a minimum on the apple services as this is only limited to Apple’s ad network. These are the ways through which you can limit the targeted ads on the iPhone.
