Profile sharing must be enabled on the phone.

Give your messages a personal touch and let them see your face! You can set a profile picture to appear when you use the Messages app. From the Home screen, navigate to the Apps screen, and then touch Contacts. Your profile will appear above your Contact list. Touch your name (or My info or Me) to access your profile, and then touch EDIT. Touch the Gallery icon, and then touch an album. Touch the photo you want to use as a profile picture.

To crop the picture, touch and drag the box, and then touch DONE. You can also add or edit information. To save any changes, touch SAVE. Touch Back to return to your Contact list. Contacts on your phone will now show your profile picture when you call or text other Samsung phones.
