Many people don’t know this but the process is simple and straightforward. The meta-owned messaging platform has an option in the privacy settings where you can restrict people from adding you in random groups. The last step of the process might seem long to some people but it is worth doing.
Let’s get started.
Open WhatsApp.
Tap on three dots at the top right and select settings from the menu.
Tap on accounts.
Select privacy.
Scroll down and tap on groups.
In groups, you will find three options. Select the options you want.
Since you don’t want anyone to add you to the groups, select the “My contacts except” option and then select all the contacts on your device. Yes, this is a long process especially when you have hundreds of numbers on your device but it is a one-time process and worth doing it.
Once done then no one will add you to any groups without your permission. If you want someone to add you to the group then ask that person to send you the joining link of the group in the message so you can manually join the group.
Also, you can remove the person from the list if you want some person to add you directly to some group. You also need to add new contacts to that list if you want to stop those contacts from adding you in random groups.
