HTC 10: How to Remove BlinkFeed

The HTC 10 has a BlinkFeed panel to the left of the main Home Screen, and today I’m going to show you how to disable it so you don’t see it.

BlinkFeed is a well known Home Screen feature that most HTC fans already know about. Google likes to embed Google Now into the far left home screen panel, but not all OEMs like that. In HTC Sense, for example, they like to use what is known as BlinkFeed. This is a feed of various information like news, social media posts calendar events and more.

Since the launch of the HTC One M9, HTC has also included things like restaurant/cafe/bar recommendations too.

Some people really enjoy this feature as they can find relevant and useful information there. Others though, aren’t a fan of this and would simply rather not have the panel there at all. Thankfully, this is something that HTC allows us to not only disable, but also remove from the Home Screen entirely. The process is very easy to do, and only requires a few steps to pull it off. So let’s take a look at how to disable BlinkFeed.

HTC 10 Remove BlinkFeed

  1. Long press on an empty spot of the Home Screen
  2. Tap on the ‘Manage Home Screen Pages’ option
  3. Swipe to the right to highlight the BlinkFeed panel
  4. Simply tap on the ‘Remove’ button at the bottom right
  5. Then tap the Home button to go back to the Home Screen

Explanation

As you can see in the video above, you can always add BlinkFeed back to the far left panel of the Home Screen. So if you ever decide to go back and try it out, or add in one of the modules, then you can do this at any time. To start here, we’ll need to tap on an empty spot of the Home Screen, and keep out finger there (without moving) for a few seconds. If done properly, this will bring up a menu with some Home Screen options to choose from.

At the bottom of the menu, you’ll want to tap on the Manage Home Screen Pages option that you see. This will shrine all of the Home Screen panels that you currently have set up. You can swipe through from one to the other, move them around, and even delete the ones that you don’t want. This delete part is how we’re going to remove the HTC 10 BlinkFeed panel. So swipe all the way to the leftmost panel until it shows the BlinkFeed page.

So, once you have the BlinkFeed page highlighted, just go ahead and tap the Remove button and then you’ll see the HTC 10 BlinkFeed page has been disabled. In its place, you’ll find a partial page with BlinkFeed on it and a + sign under it. So you can always tap on this partial page to bring back BlinkFeed (this is demonstrated in the video above). But once the BlinkFeed page has been removed, you can then press the Home button to leave this settings page and go back to the traditional Home Screen.

Trying to swipe to where BlinkFeed was will show you that the panel is no longer present.
