Instagram has just announced two new home feed styles for it’s iOS client – Favourites and Following, which will show posts in chronological order.
Instagram users can wish to see only the posts of a few preselected accounts or their following ones, by setting the above two feed styles. Although, Instagram recommends using it’s algorithmic home feed by making it the default option every time the app is opened.
Instagram’s New Home Feed
Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri last year said that their team is exploring new ways of presenting the home feed to it’s users. And this is by offering them the choice of picking what they see. Months after this assurance, the platform now announced two new home feed styles.
And these are named Favorites and Following. Available in Instagram’s iOS client, the Following style is where you see all the latest posts of accounts you’re following, in chronological order. And Favorites is where you set a list of upto 50 accounts, and see only the posts coming from them.
This list can be changed whenever you like, and it doesn’t send any notification to the accounts in them. You can set either of the home feed styles by clicking on the Instagram icon at the top left corner.
Although, Instagram shows you it’s algorithmic home feed every time you open the app, which contains a mix of photos and videos coming from your following accounts, brands, and suggested content.
Announcing this new feature, Adam Mosseri said,
“We’re always working on new ways to improve your Instagram experience. We’ll continue to build features like Favorites and Following to give you more choice and control over what you see.”
