iPhone SE (2022)

At it’s peak performance event held virtually on 8th March 2022, Apple finally unveiled it’s much-awaited and rumored iPhone SE (2022). It is the third generation of the budget-friendly iPhone and is a successor of the iPhone SE 2 which was launched in 2020.

iPhone SE (2022) comes with the same design as it’s predecessor but with incremental updates under the hood. The design looks very dated compared to the modern budget-friendly devices from other OEMs.

iPhone SE (2022) Specifications:

As mentioned it comes with the same design as it’s predecessor. There is a glass on the front and back of the device which Apple called “toughest glass in a smartphone” and a touch ID at the bottom. On the front is a 4.7-inch HD+ retina display with a 750*1334 pixels resolution. This display has a PPI of 326 and it can reach up to 625 nits of peak brightness. It is the same display that was used in iPhone SE 2 which launched in 2020.

Most of the changes in the device are under the hood. It comes with the latest and fastest Apple A15 Bionic chipset. It is the latest chipset from Apple and it also powers the iPhone 13 series which was launched last year. This A15 Bionic chipset offers 1.8x faster performance as compared to iPhone 8 series. There is also a Live text feature added to this device.

Another major upgrade in this device is the 5G support. Apple added the sub-6Ghz 5G support in this device. It’s predecessor came with a 4G support and the A13 Bionic chip so the addition of A15 Bionic chip and 5G support is a big update.

On the rear side there is the same single 12 MP camera with f/1.8 aperture which was used in it’s predecessor and in iPhone 8 as well. However, the company claimed that they have made some improvements in the rear camera sensor including improved visual processing. The camera comes with features like Deep fusion, photographic styles, and Smart HDR 4. It can also record 4K videos at 60 frames per second.

There is a 7 MP selfie shooter with an f/2.2 aperture at the front. The selfie camera also comes with features like Deep fusion, photographic styles, Smart HDR 4, portrait lightning with six effects, etc.

Other specifications include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi 5, NFC, lightning port, and an IP 67 rating for water protection. The device comes with a $429 price tag for the base 64GB storage variant which is $30 more than it’s predecessor. It is available in three color options i.e., Product Red, Starlight, and Midnight.
