LG Stylo 5 Handsets Receive Android 10 OTA, Users Report

While we’re already having the fun of Android 11, there are users with last year’s handsets waiting of Android 10. This group includes LG’s Stylo users, who are now about the Android 10 update soon. As few users pointed out in Reddit, LG Stylo devices from Verizon and MetroPCS are having an OTA update to Android 10. So better watch out for your turn.

LG Stylo Gets Android 10 Update via OTA

Considering the rough history of LG in terms of OS updates, one would not expect to receive the latest versions soon. But, the maker cares about their users, since they least push them later, for sure. The company’s Stylo 5 is one such piece that’s about to have a great revamp now – with an update to Android 10.

As reported by few users on Reddit, their LG Stylo 6 handsets running on MetroPCS and Verizon carriers are receiving Android 10 over-the-air (OTA) update. This brings the new features of Android 10 like gesture navigations and more control over privacy. So, users who’re eager to check these things out and have not rooted their handset for any custom ROMs, watch out.

While this is seen by only Verizon and MetroPCS users, for now, LG may soon rollout Android 10 to all carriers’ users soon. After all, it launched its successor, LG Stylo 6 with Android 10 by default. The LG Stylo 5 was launched last year with no expectations on receiving timely software updates. But, this move has surprised everyone.

The phone shipped with Android 9 Pie out of the box and runs on Snapdragon’s 450 SoC chipset. With 6.2″ FHD display, it has a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. Finally, with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a fair 3500mAh battery, it has a sole storage variant of 3GB + 32GB that’s priced at around €200 when launched.
