South Korean conglomerate “LG” hasn’t seen much success from its smartphone division over the past few years. But this doesn’t stop the company from taking a risk and inventing new products. They previously launched LG G5 which is a unique phone. Now they have come with another unorthodox concept with the LG Wing 5G.
We have previously reported that LG is working on such a concept as a leaked video appeared a few days back. Now the device is official so let’s find out what this unique concept is about.
Reinvent Multitasking:
This device has taken multitasking to another level. This is a unique concept and a first of its kind so LG wanted to make it functional. The device has a rotating display which makes multitasking easy.
LG Wing offers two modes. The First mode is the standard mode through which we can use the device like all other devices. The second mode is interesting and involves groundbreaking engineering. In the second mode, the front of the display rotated at a 90-degree angle and displayed a secondary small display of 3.9-inches.
In the second mode, some apps can be used on both the screens while you can also use multiple apps at a time in the rotated mode. The apps work similarly to the phone with the folding displays.
The device also lets you create dual app shortcuts through which you can create app pairs and use two apps with one click. This is a similar we have been seeing on the Samsung flagship devices including the Galaxy Z Fold 2. But not every app supported this feature.
Display:
The device comes with the main display of 6.8-inch which is an edge to edge panel with full view. The display aspect ratio is 20:5:9 which is very common these days as most devices come with a tall display. The secondary display is 3.9-inches which is also an OLED panel and comes with the software optimization.
There are many software customizations to enhance the dual-display user experience. For instance, while playing a video you can use the second display to control media like manage video playback and control volumes.
Internals:
The phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB internal storage.
LG Wings uses LG’s custom UI based on the Android 10 for the software.
Cameras:
LG Wing comes with the triple camera setup. These cameras include a 64 MP Ultra High-Resolution Lens, 12 MP Ultra-Wide Big Pixel and a 13 MP Ultra-Wide lens.
When the display is rotated, the device can be used as a joystick controller where the secondary display is used to control camera features.
LG also included a few more features in the camera to make videos smoother. These features include pan-follow mode used when the camera is moving horizontally and a first-person mode used for the rhythmic and dynamic movement.
Another interesting feature is that the user can use both the front and back camera at the same time. It will be quite helpful for vloggers to record both front and back video for a vlog.
Battery:
The phone is equipped with the 4000 mAh battery which might feel low due to the OLED dual screen. The phone supports quick charge 4 for fast charging and wireless charging.
