Finally commercializing on the popularity of it’s platform, WhatsApp announced a cloud-based API for businesses using WhatsApp to communicate with their clients.
This is an extension to the current WhatsApp Business app and it contains a dedicated dashboard to track all the conversations and product leads. While it’s free for the first 1,000 messages, businesses should upgrade to a commercial plan to raise the limits.
A Commercial API For WhatsApp Businesses
WhatsApp has long been offered for free to all personal uses, but Meta, it’s parent company has been frequently hinting that it’ll introduce a commercial version soon. And now we hear an official announcement coming from Mark Zuckerberg, who unveiled a cloud-based API for WhatsApp businesses.
Noting that over a billion people use WhatsApp to reach their favorite brands every week, Zuckerberg said the company is “opening WhatsApp to any business of any size around the world with WhatsApp Cloud API.”
Chargeable on a per-message basis, businesses can use this service for free until they breach the 1,000 messages per month limit – initiated by either businesses or the customers. Thereafter, they will be charged anywhere between a cent to 20 cents, depending on region and conversation initiator.
WhatsApp Cloud API is rolling out for all businesses around the world, and integrates with the business systems in minutes! It comes with a generic dashboard that houses details like the current account limits, recent product news, and access to account tools like the insights, templates, messages, phone numbers, and product catalog.
Whatever even lets developers and businesses build a custom dashboard over this generic one to “customize their experience and speed up their response time to customers“.
