Microsoft Surface Duo 2 announced with the upgraded chipset and 90 Hz refresh rate

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has officially announced after some rumors and leaks as Microsoft’s second attempt into the foldable Android smartphone.

From the looks, the newly announced device looks like its predecessor but it brings many new upgrades that are mission from its predecessor. From the inside, the device comes with the latest and updated features.

Microsoft Surface Duo 2 Specifications:

The device still has two displays instead of a single display like other folding devices. Both the displays are 5.8-inch OLED displays that are connected with an improved hinge and now both have a 90hz higher refresh rate that was missing in its previous generation. Both screens combine to have an 8.3-inch diagonal display and can be used as a tablet.

The screens are now curved alongside the hinge and when closed the curved edges alongside the hinge give some details. Microsoft calling the curved edges Surface Duo Glance bar and it shows incoming calls, missed calls notification, message notifications, teams notification, and battery details.

Under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset which is a significant improvement as previous-gen used dated chipset.

The surface duo supports 5G and according to the company, it is the thinnest 5G device on the market. The device is available in 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. Microsoft didn’t disclose the battery capacity of the device but said that the device has a big all-day battery.

Surface Duo comes with Stock Android 11 out of the box and optimized Microsoft office apps for the foldable display. With this device, the company is targeting professionals and those who prefer productivity on their smartphones.

The previous duo did not have the rear camera but this time Microsoft has included a triple rear camera and a huge camera bump. The three cameras are standard wide, telephoto, and ultra-wide lenses and have 12-MP sensors. Telephoto and ultra-wide lenses have the optical image stabilization feature as well. On the display is the single selfie camera which is quite similar to the last-gen model for video calls and team meetings.

Microsoft surface Duo 2 also supports pen and the company has included an upgraded surface pen with the device that can be attached magnetically at the back of the device. While attached to the device magnetically the pen charges itself.

Just like the original duo this one also comes with a heft $1500 price tag. It is now available in two color options i.e Glacier and Obsidian color.
