Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing Phone 2 launch is around the corner as it is slated to launch in summer 2023. Now, just before the launch, Carl Pei the founder of Nothing revealed that the second Gen device will launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

Just like other smartphones, we get a lot of leaks and rumors about the upcoming Nothing Phone 2. However, in a series of Tweets, Nothing’s co-founder revealed the details about the chipset of the device.

According to Carl Pei, the device will launch with the last year’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The 8+ Gen 1 is an overclocked version of the regular 8 Gen 1 and we have seen this chipset in devices like OnePlus 10T and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.

However, despite an older chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is still a capable chipset compared to other chipsets. The chip can handle all the tasks and games easily without any issues and stutters. Carl Pei states that the company used a specific variant of the chipset in the Nothing Phone 2. The Phone 2 now gets significant performance boosts, improvements in every department, great battery life and great camera performance compared to it’s previous generation.

The device is in the testing phase and Carl Pei claims that the device performed significantly well when paired with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 plus Gen 1 chipset. Thanks to the flagship-level chipset, the Phone 2 gets an 80 percent boost in performance as compared to the Phone 1 which was launched last year. The chipset also improves the battery life, camera performance and network performance of the device.

Nothing is comparatively a new consumer electronics brand founded by Carl Pei who was also the co-founder of OnePlus. After a few years with OnePlus, Carl Pei had quit the company and started another company name Nothing. The company’s first product was an earphone(1) which was received well when it launched.

After earphone(1) the company launched it’s first smartphone called Nothing Phone 1 with mid-range chipset. But the price of that device makes it a good budget device with decent performance. Now, the company is ready to bring an upgrade to it’s smartphone lineup with the Nothing Phone 2.
