Oppo Reno 5

Oppo Reno 5 series was in rumors last month and today the company has announced its Oppo Reno 5 series. Both the devices in the series are 5G ready and are available for CNY 2,699 in China.

Oppo brings the update to its Reno 4 series in just 6 months. The Oppo Reno 5 series have two devices i.e., Reno 5 5G and Reno 5 Pro 5G. At the event, the Chinese company also teases another variant Reno 5 Pro+ 5G. The pro+ variant will be the flagship among the three.

The main highlight of the Oppo Reno 5 series is the AMOLED display, Quad camera with 64-MP main lens, and 65W super-fast charging.

Oppo Reno 5 series specifications:

Both these devices have almost similar features and build and design. The rear panel is similar on both devices with a quad-camera setup. On the front, there is a noticeable difference between both devices. Oppo Reno 5 has a flat AMOLED display and the Pro variant has a curved display panel.

The device has a new design which the company called Reno Glow 2.0. In this design, the top and camera bump glows in the dark.

 

Display:

The vanilla Reno 5 comes with a 6.43-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display panel. Its sibling comes with a slightly bigger 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display panel. Both these displays have a higher refresh rate of 90 Hz and 180 Hz touch response rate. On the display, there is a punch hole cut-out for the selfie camera and on the bottom is the under-display fingerprint scanner.

Internals:

Oppo uses different chipsets on both devices. The standard Oppo Reno 5 comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G which is the same as its predecessor. The Pro variant comes with MediaTek Dimensity 1000+chipset. Along with the SoC, there is a 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. And it is running color OS 11 based on Android 11 out of the box.

Cameras:

On the front, there is a 32-MP selfie camera on both devices. On the rear, there is a quad camera setup. A 64-MP f/1.7 main lens with 8-MP ultra-wide lens, 2-MP macro lens, and 2-MP depth sensor.

Battery:

There is a slight difference in the battery of both devices. The standard variant comes with a 4300 mAh battery while the Pro variant comes with a 4350 mAh battery. Both the devices will support 65W fast charging and there is a 65W charger included in the box.

Others:

Some other features include a 3.5 mm audio jack which is rare these days, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5, and NFC.

Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ details:

The Pro+ variant isn’t launched at the event but the company gives a hint of the model. It will basically be available at Christmas. According to the company, it will be a flagship device but will not be powered by the latest SD 888. It will be released with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. The rest of the specs will almost be the same including the 65W fast charging.

Pricing of Oppo Reno 5 series:

Oppo reno 5 5G is priced at USD 410 for the base 8GB/128GB variant. The 12GB/256GB variant is priced at USD 460. There are three color options i.e. Aurora Blue, Midnight Black, and Glitter Blue.

The pro variant for 8GB/128GB is priced at USD 520 and the 12GB/256GB is priced at USD 580. There are four color options for the pro variant i.e., Aurora Blue, Midnight Black, Glitter Blue, and New Year Edition Red.
