OPPO has revealed more details about the upcoming ColorOS 17, offering an early look at what appears to be one of the software’s biggest visual redesigns yet. The new software introduces a fresh design language, smoother animations, and more dynamic touch interactions designed to make the overall user experience feel more natural and responsive.
OPPO has introduced a new design language called “liquid acrylic” visual style, which had previously appeared in leaks. The interface combines translucent layers, soft blur effects, and glowing lighting elements to create a more modern and visually immersive appearance. OPPO says its approach uses softer light-bending effects than Apple’s Liquid Glass design, potentially helping reduce power consumption while maintaining good text readability on AMOLED displays.
ColorOS 17 will also bring more consistent rounded corners throughout the system. This unified design is expected to make menus, applications, and other interface elements feel more visually cohesive.
Another major addition is a new animation system called “fluid fusion.” According to OPPO, transitions between apps, menus, and different parts of the interface will flow more naturally from one screen to another. Rather than making individual actions feel separate, animations are designed to create a continuous sense of movement throughout the operating system.
OPPO is also introducing a flexible feedback system for touch interactions. On-screen elements can stretch while being dragged, compress during faster or stronger swipes, and bounce back after users release them. This gives interface elements a more physical and responsive feel, making interactions appear more lively and dynamic.
ColorOS 17 is expected to debut alongside OPPO’s next-generation flagship smartphones, the Find X10 series. Following its initial launch, the update could gradually expand to eligible OPPO, Oneplus and Realme devices.
