The leaked data comprises user’s profile ID, their names, email addresses, phone numbers, and other profile details. The leaked data is available for at least a 4-digit minimum price.
LinkedIn immediately gave the statement and said that it was not a data leaked. LinkedIn said that the hacker scrapped that data from LinkedIn public profiles. They also assured that no private profile data was leaked.
According to the company:
“We have investigated an alleged set of LinkedIn data that has been posted for sale and have determined that it is actually an aggregation of data from a number of websites and companies,”
They also Said in a Statement:
“It does include publicly viewable member profile data that appears to have been scraped from LinkedIn. This was not a LinkedIn data breach, and no private member account data from LinkedIn was included in what we’ve been able to review.”
After the news broke, Bloomberg reports that an Italian privacy firm has already started an investigation of the data leak. As the company claim that all the leaked data is from public accounts. So it is a good time for all the users to review their profile settings and make their account private. Users should also change their passwords and enable 2-factor authentication.
