Qualcomm announced a smartphone with Snapdragon 888 SoC for its Snapdragon insider community. According to sources Snapdragon insider community has 1.6 million fans and geeks that take part in online forums. They also share and love to hear news related to the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC.
To offer something unique to its insider community, the chipmaker has partnered with Taiwanese OEM ASUS for a Smartphone. The company revealed “Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders” for its community and this is also the name of the device.
This device comes with a hefty price tag of $1500 and the company includes TWS earbuds, Snapdragon Sound Produced by the master $ dynamics, a bumper case, Qualcomm Quick Charge 5.0 charging adapter, and two charging cables along with the device.
The device will have a 6.78-inch AMOLED display made by the Samsung Display. The display has a resolution of 2448*1080 resolution and a 144 Hz higher refresh rate. The display has a protection of Gorilla Glass Victus and Always-on Display.
The device comes with a slightly old design as there are bezels on both the top and bottom. The top bezel houses a 24 MP selfie camera. This makes this device comes without the punch hole cutout for the selfie camera. Among the flagship, only Sony devices still come without the punch hole cutout and have a selfie camera on top bezels.
On the rear side are the triple camera setup and a Snapdragon logo in the center. The device has a 64 MP f/1.8 aperture main camera, 12 MP f/1.2 aperture ultra-wide camera, an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom.
These cameras are equipped with Qualcomm AI software experience and auto-zoom. There is also a 3D sonic fingerprint sensor similar to Samsung Flagships. But it is not an in-display sensor just like Samsung. The fingerprint is placed on the rear side just above the Qualcomm logo.
Qualcomm claims that the device has a rigid OLED display so they couldn’t able to place the fingerprint scanner in the display.
Under the hood is of course the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, with 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage and 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It will have Stock Android 11 out of the box without any bloatware.
Qualcomm has added a 4000 mAh battery which supports Qualcomm Quick charge 5.0. Qualcomm Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders can charge 70% in 30 minutes with the charger included in the box and can fully charge in 50 minutes.
The purpose of this device is to display the Qualcomm software features and their integration with its hardware. The device is completely manufactured by ASUS and ASUS will also market and sell the device in select countries. This device will be available in the US, Germany, UK, China, Japan, India, and South Korea.
