Samsung is working on Exynos 1380 and Tensor 2 SoC

Samsung has started working on two new chipsets as per the latest reports. One of the chipsets is it’s own in-house Exynos 1380 while the second chipset is Google’s Tensor 2 for upcoming Pixel devices.

Last year, Google introduced it’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, and for the first time, they built their own in-house chipset called Tensor SoC based on TSMC 5nm architecture. Since then we have seen Tensor SoC in three devices that are Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and this year’s mid-range Pixel 6a. Now, Google is planning to bring the second generation of Tensor Chipset to upcoming Pixel devices, and this time they opt for Samsung as their supplier.

Hopefully, we would see the second generation of Tensor chipset in the Google Pixel 7 series which Google showed us at it’s Google I/O held earlier this year, and most probably in next year’s mid-range Pixel 7a smartphone. The Tensor 2 chipset comes with model number S5P9865. Along with the Tensor chipset, Samsung is also working on it’s own Exynos 1380 SoC which we could see in Galaxy A54 next year. We already have news that Samsung will launch all of it’s flagship devices next year with the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC worldwide so it means that only “A series” and other Mid-range and budget devices are the only ones that are coming with the Exynos chipset. This Exynos 1380 SoC is the successor of this year’s Exynos 1280 SoC.

The news comes from GalaxyClub, that Samsung has started working on two new chipsets. Of the two chipsets, One comes with a model number S5P9865 while the other is Exynos 1380. The first generation of Tensor Chip had a model number S5P9845. So, it is assumed that the chipset with the model number S5P9865 that Samsung is developing is the second generation of Tensor silicon.

The Exynos 1380 is a successor of this year’s Exynos 1280 SoC and has a model number S5E8835. It is expected that this chipset will be used in next year’s Samsung Galaxy A54.
