Samsung November 2021 Security Update
With more and more vulnerabilities surfacing every now and then, OEMs should release security updates regularly to patch them and protect users from unwanted attacks. And Samsung is one of those few players which rolls out security updates timely, to keep the ecosystem safe.
In this pursuit, the South Korean OEM has released November 2021 security update for several Galaxy S-series and M-series smartphones in the past week, patching various vulnerabilities and improving the device’s security. Now, it’s rolling out the same for Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Galaxy Fold 5G handsets.
These updates carry the firmware version F707BXXS5EUJ2 (Galaxy Z Flip 5G) and F907BXXS6FUJB (Galaxy Fold 5G) and are available to users in Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Nordic countries, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, the Baltic region, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and the UK.
So if you hold either a Galaxy Z Flip 5G or a Galaxy Fold 5G, and fall in any of the regions above mentioned, look in the Settings app to find the Software Update section and check for updates. Once shown, hit Download and install. If you can’t see it yet, try downloading it directly from the Sammobile’s page and flash it yourself.
The latest security update carries patches for 20 high-risk vulnerabilities, two moderate-risk vulnerabilities, and three critical vulnerabilities from Google. While there are 17 bug fixes included that do not apply to Samsung devices, the update fixes a critical bug that led to the storage of sensitive information insecurely in the Property Settings, which allowed attackers to read ESN values without privilege.
