Should you buy PS5 at Launch

After learning a lot of the PS5, a lot of gamers and enthusiasts might be geared up and already would have started saving money for the arrival of Sony’s next-gen successor PS5 or PlayStation 5. Ever since the PS5 June event, we have learned a lot about the PS5 and its unusual physical design. All we need to do now is to wait for its release date and price. But should you buy the PS5 at launch or hold off?

Just like Microsoft, Sony will try its best bid to convince the customers to opt for PlayStation 5, regardless of the circumstances. Sony is all set to bring its PS5 this fall and what we know is that the investments may be much more this year as compared to the last-gen PlayStation. The main question is that should you buy the PS5 at launch? Will it be worth it to get PS5 or should you wait until later?

Should you buy PS5 at Launch

Should you buy the PS5 during launch or hold off

The idea of owning the new gaming console the day it’s launched is exciting but there are a few good reasons why you should hold off. Let’s see whether should you buy PS5 at Launch or not.

Good games are a long way

At the June Event, Sony showcased some incredibly amazing games. Some of them were Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Horizon: Forbidden West, Resident Evil Village, Returnal, the Demon’s Soul, and much more. Not a single one of them is on the list to launch alongside the PS5.

It doesn’t even make sense to buy the PS5 at launch when you cannot enjoy the new games. There is no justification for buying a somewhat $500 console for playing games that are available on the previous-gen PlayStation. It is better to wait until the games are launched before buying the PS5.

Should you buy PS5 at Launch

The new games will be available on the current-gen PlayStation.

Games like Outriders, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and NBA 2K21 will be available on PS5 right away with several third-party releases including Watch Dogs Legion, Dying Light 2, and Dirt 5. But, these games are not exclusive titles on PS5 as they are also confirmed for the PC and PS4.

If you are someone who does not have current-gen PlayStation or a PC, then you can by all means pre-order a PS5 if you want to jump right into gaming. You will be able to have access to a wide variety of titles.

Price

Buying a new tech at the launch date can be very expensive. The excitement of buying a new tech as soon as it hits the market is understandable but buying one during the launch is not a smart move especially when the company has decided to give you the same games library as in current-gen PlayStation.

PS5 will be very expensive as the gaming industry is not immune to the effects of the Corona Virus. Manufacturing costs have significantly risen for many reasons. Due to high demands for flash memory and manufacturing in countries that have slowed down or come to halt due to several shelter-in-place orders around the world.

Should you buy PS5 at Launch

You can expect very less supply and a huge demand for the new-gen PlayStation causing the price for the new-gen PlayStation to cost more than current-gen PlayStation.

Proprietary Hardware

The new-gen PlayStation (PS5) comes equipped with SSD which has some special hardware to optimize the loading time or to say no loading time. This technology will only be benefited to the first party games. The new-gen PlayStation will also have built-in backward compatibility so that you can enjoy PS4 games as well.

Release Date

As mentioned above, Sony is all set to launch its next-gen PlayStation in Holiday 2020. Sony has not provided any specific date but PS5 will likely be launched in early November since the last launch took place on November 15th.

After the PS5 June event, we should have been able to place pre-orders but it looks like Sony wants Microsoft to go first. Due to the circumstances, people thought that the release date of PS5 may be delayed but according to Sony, the PlayStation ecosystem is on track for the 2020 Holiday release.

Specs

Sony has always offered some great specs and features to its PlayStation. One such amazing feature is that there will be no loading time. The PS5 CPU will be accommodated with 8 core AMD Ryzen based on 7nm Zen 2 while the GPU will be Radeon Navi based. It will also feature 3D Audio and will support 8K resolution and Physical Media.

Since it will also have Ray Tracing, the new-gen PS5 will be able to deliver incredible graphics skin on your high-end gaming PC’s.

Final Thoughts

There are pros and cons as to should you buy PS5 at launch or not. If you can afford to buy a new console since the launch lineup is interesting, you should. But, if you can wait, maybe due to pricing, then it’s for best to opt-out of buying the PS5 at launch as it might not be worth the investment. Once it is released, you will be able to get a better idea of what to expect from PS5 and whether you should buy PS5 or not.
