Snap Inc launched subscription-based Snapchat+ for $3.99 with exclusive features. The exclusive features are only available for subscribers who opt for Snapchat+ by paying $3.99 monthly. Apart from exclusive features, there is an option available for the subscribers to change the app icon which seems very interesting.

Earlier we reported that Snapchat+ was in development as there were some leaks and rumors online, so this news was not surprising. We had reported that Snap was developing a subscription-based plan for power users with some exclusive features. The company has officially launched the service and called it Snapchat+. Snapchat+ is currently available in top-tier countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates. More countries will be added soon and subscription-based features will be available in every country soon.

As per Snap Inc,

“Today we’re launching Snapchat+, a collection of exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features available in Snapchat for $3.99/month.  This subscription will allow us to deliver new Snapchat features to some of the most passionate members of our community and allow us to provide prioritized support.”

Users who subscribe to the Plus variant will get to know who has rewatched their stories. Additionally, users can also pin their chats on top of the list for easy access, a feature that is available on almost all other messaging and social media platforms. However, one thing that is surprising, Snap will continue displaying ads to the Plus users as well to increase it’s revenue. Like other social media platforms, Snap’s main source of income is also advertisement so paid users will also get the ads like normal users. This is the first time that the company is launching a subscription-based model to increase it’s revenue.

Previously, Twitter also launched a subscription-based feature called Twitter blue. Snapchat users who opt for the subscription will get some exclusive features and stickers. They will also get those features that are in the testing phase before the normal users.
