Stories introduced by Snapchat has become a huge success that almost every popular social media app launch their version of stories. Now, another popular app TikTok is working on its version of stories similar to Snapchat.

TikTok gained huge popularity especially last year in the times of Covid-19 lockdown. Twitter user Matt Navarra posted the news about TikTok stories. The news was later confirmed by the app’s spokesperson through an email to the Verge.

The stories feature is called TikTok stories and is similar to the stories you see on WhatsApp, Snapchat, Instagram, and other social media apps.

Users will only see the stories on the account whom they follow on TikTok and it appears in a slide over the sidebar. The stories will remain active for 24 hours and will automatically disappear after 24 hours.

Viewers can also comment on the stories and similar to Facebook and Instagram viewers can view user’s profiles by just tapping on the profile icon on stories. Similarly, viewers can tap on other user’s profile icons to view their stories.

TikTok claims that their stories feature is “a new way to interact with your fans”. Once the feature will launch users will see a new create button in the sidebar, using that they can create stories in the app. Users can add basic TikTok features like text, captions, and music in the stories as well. It is also expected that these stories will only be in video form as TikTok itself is a video application. Posting pictures in the stories just like Instagram might not be an option in this case.

In an email to The Verge, the app spokesperson said that “We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. Currently, we’re experimenting with ways to give creators additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the TikTok community.”

The short video creating application didn’t give the exact detail about the launching of this feature. Neither did they confirm whether it will be available to global users or limited users in specific countries.

But some Twitter users already received this feature and post it on their Twitter feed. Stories feature on TikTok might not be a surprise as this feature is constant on all social media platforms.
