Vivo X90 Pro+ is the World's First Phone With Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Chip

Vivo is set to become the first phone to leverage Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, which will be fitted into the flagship phone of it’s upcoming Vivo X90 series.

The Vivo X90 Pro+, the most premium of all, will have the latest Snapdragon chip alongside the other high-end hardware. While the other two phones – Vivo X90 and X90 Pro will have fine hardware with exceptional rear cameras to be called as a premium series.

Vivo X90 Pro+ Specifications

Every year when Qualcomm releases a flagship processor, all the major Android OEMs race to get it inside their premium phones. While most of the time, it’s either Xiaomi or Samsung, Vivo is taking the lead this year with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

Just a week after Qualcomm announced it’s flagship chip, Vivo unveiled it’s new flagship smartphone series – Vivo X90. And the high-end piece in this lineup, the Vivo X90 Pro+, is set to have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip within.

Other features of this ultra-premium phone includes a 64MP periscope camera with 3.5x zoom, a 1″ Sony IMX989 50MP camera with Zeiss branding, and a 3D ultrasound fingerprint scanner. The rear cameras are capable of horizon correction, lens flare portrait mode, astrophotography, and 100x hybrid zoom.

With all these capabilities, the handset can record 8K videos at 30fps with Dolby Vision and LOG10 support. All this is powered by a 4,800mAh battery with 80W fast charging (wired) and 50W wireless charging. This handset will be available from December 6th in China for $910, with pre-orders starting on November 28th.

The other two handsets in the line-up – Vivo X90 and Vivo X90 Pro – will have a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip, 12GB RAM, and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Both these models differ only in the rear camera setup – with the regular X90 having a 50MP primary, 50MP portrait, and a 12MP ultra-wide camera, while the Pro model has a 50MP primary and portrait sensors.

These handsets are already available for pre-order, with the standard variant costing 4499 yuan ($615) and the Pro variant costing 5499 yuan ($775).
