WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to share voice messages or notes as a status along with the usual images and videos.
Currently, users have only a few options for their status i.e. they can share either a photo, a video, or a link as their status. With the upcoming new status option, users can share their voice messages as status as well.
The update came from WABetaInfo, as the publication reveals that the popular instant messaging app has been working on this new feature since last year. There was a hint of this feature at a beta update in July last year.
Recently, WhatsApp started bringing this new feature to more beta testers, indicating that the launch of this feature is near and that WhatsApp is going to release the update soon. If you are a beta tester of WhatsApp, then you can download the beta version from the Google Play Store if it is available for you.
Users can easily set a voice message as a status on the same page from where they can set or update their statuses. Long Press on the send button and it will convert into a mic and users can record their voice.
The rest is the same, as the voice message will also be shared with only those users whom you have allowed to see your status. This feature is also end-to-end encrypted and as usual, the status will disappear after 24 hours. Users can record only 30 seconds of voicing. The time duration may increase in the new future.
Also, the feature will be visible to users’ contacts who have the latest version of WhatsApp. If your contacts have an older version of the app, then they cannot see your voice message status.
