After hinting for emojis reactions on iOS and desktop clients, WhatsApp is rolling out this feature in the latest Android beta version.
Users will be able to react to messages with any of the six different emojis, expressing their quick thoughts. This feature is available in most of the popular rival messengers and now comes to WhatsApp.
Reacting With an Emoji
WhatsApp once again justifies itself for being a slow developer of new features, as the platform is bringing a much-anticipated feature now – the emojis reaction.
As per WaBetaInfo, the WhatsApp Android beta version 220.127.116.11 is seen as having support for emojis reactions, which can be used to respond to messages in a quick way. This feature is available on rival messengers like iMessage, Facebook Messenger, Google’s Messages app, and even Twitter DMs for a long time.
Even now, WhatsApp has been dropping hints of bringing this feature lately. The platform has set a new toggle setting as “Reaction Notifications” in the iOS beta client earlier, and a similar option on it’s desktop beta client too. Now, it gets directly onto the Android counterpart.
Well, support for this is spotted in the Android v18.104.22.168 and isn’t yet available in all such clients. WhatsApp has been rolling this out in phases, so expect to be available for you soon if running on the same version.
When rolled out, users can long-press a message to invoke the emojis menu, where the users can select either of the available emojis – thumbs up, heart, crying, laughter, shocked face, or folded hands – to express their reaction in a quick way.
With Android clients getting this support now, expect the same feature to be rolling out to other WhatsApp clients soon.
