Considering the growing competition, WhatsApp is in the pursuit of launching new features every now and then. The latest one coming to the platform is the support for joining group calls midway.
Named as joinable calls, WhatsApp announced this feature to beta users today and lets them join any ongoing group call if they’re invited. Also, the UI for both audio and video calls has been revamped to look better, and with more information.
WhatsApp Joinable Calls
There are times when you ignore a group call because of some work and wanted to join the pack if it’s still going. On WhatsApp, you have to ask any of the participants of such group calls personally in some way to be added by them later.
This is a pure hassle. And that’s why WhatsApp has come up with a solution – joinable calls. The Facebook-owned platform has today unveiled in a blog post that, Joinable Calls will let any invited participant join an ongoing call whenever they want.
If you’re in the middle of something and declined the join request for a group call, this will still be available to you in the Calls tab with a button to join instantly into the pack without asking anyone to pull in.
Apart from this, WhatsApp has also revamped the UI of both audio and video calls to look much better and informative. It replaced the red decline button with Ignore, and the green call up button with Join.
Also, in terms of group calls, the WhatsApp UI will now show who’s active in the call, and who’ve declined or get to join after being invited. You may make decisions based on this. These two changes are coming to WhatsApp beta users with the latest version starting today and will roll out to a stable group later.
