Windows 11

Windows 11 will launch officially on October 5th confirms Microsoft. The new Windows will be offered as a free update to the supported devices just like Windows 10.

The upcoming devices with the supported internals will also ship with Windows 11 out of the box. Similar to the previous generation, the new OS will roll out in different phases. First, the update will roll out for all the new supported devices. Then later on after few days, the update will be available for those supported devices that are already in use.

In a Windows blog, Windows general marketing manager Aaron Woodman said,

“Following the tremendous learnings from Windows 10, we want to make sure we’re providing you with the best possible experience. We expect all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.”

PCs or laptops that are currently on Windows 10 will be notified by the Windows update when the new OS update is available to download. Users can also check whether their PC is suitable for Windows 11 or not. To check the eligibility of your device, users can use the PC health check application that is developed by Microsoft.

At launch, all the teased features in the upcoming OS will not be available. The OS maker will gradually make all the teased features available for the users.

Apart from the new start menu and visual change, Android app support is the most talked about feature of the upcoming OS. The Android App support feature will be available in Windows 11 through the partnership with Amazon and Intel. But Android app support feature won’t be available on the OS at the launch. This feature won’t roll out to users until 2022 as few reports suggest.

Last week, Microsoft announced the system requirement for Windows 11. Also, the company said that those who don’t have the new internals will have to download the ISO image of windows. Then they will have to manually install the Windows as Windows update will not be available for those who don’t have the new internals.

The minimum system requirement for the upcoming OS is 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 1GHz 64-bit processor with two cores, and a TPM 1.2 Chip. Those who manually install the Windows by using the ISO file will not get the future update as well as the security updates.

Microsoft will provide the official support for Windows 10 until the 14th October 2025. After that, the company will discontinue the said OS and no new feature update and security update will be offered. The company didn’t disclose yet how many updates Windows 10 will get in the course of these four years. However, the 21H2 update for windows 10 will arrive before the end of this year for all users.
