Xiaomi has launched it’s latest Xiaomi 12S series in China with a Leica backed camera system and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The series consists of Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and 12S Ultra. These devices are the first ones from Xiaomi to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and Leica-backed camera system. Xiaomi recently partnered with German Camera brand Leica for camera systems on it’s devices. Here are the details about the specifications of the devices in the series.
Xiaomi 12S Specifications:
The Xiaomi 12S is the cheapest among the three and has a similar design but with some minor changes as the Xiaomi 12 series launched earlier this year. The device has a vertical camera module with a triple camera system. Each camera lens is placed on a separate camera island with the primary sensor having a big circular camera island while the other two lenses have the same camera island.
On the front are a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, HDR10+, and DCI-P3 color gamut. This display can reach up to 1100 nits of peak brightness and comes 120Hz fast refresh rate. There is a 32MP selfie shooter with an f/2.4 aperture on the top center of the display in the punch-hole cutout.
Under the hood is the latest and the fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. On the rear side is a triple camera system that contains a 50MP Sony IMX707 main sensor with an f/1.8 lens and it comes with optical image stabilization. The primary sensor is paired with a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 13MP macro lens.
The device runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box and is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery that supports 67W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The device comes with USB Type-C, 4G, 5G, LTE, Bluetooth v5.2, Wi-Fi 6, IR Blaster, NFS, GPS, and all the sensors.
Xiaomi 12S Pro Specifications:
The 12S Pro model comes with a similar design and specifications with few minor upgrades compared to the standard Xiaomi 12S. On the front is a 6.73-inch LTPO 2.0 Samsung E5 AMOLED display. The display supports a 120Hz fast refresh rate and can reach up to 1500 nits of peak brightness. The rest of the internals are the same as the standard variant.
The rear camera setup is different from the standard variant as there is a 50MP Sony IMX707 primary sensor along with a 50MP ultra-wide lens and a 50MP portrait lens. It is equipped with a slightly bigger 4600 mAh battery that supports the fastest 120W wired fast charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. It also runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. The rest of the specifications are the same as the standard variant.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra Specifications:
The top-of-the-line variant is this 12S ultra that comes with all the bells and whistles to attract customers and is competing with giants like the Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra. The USP of this device is it’s rear camera system as it comes with a big circular camera module. It comes with a triple camera system that contains a 50MP Sony IMX989 main sensor with f/1.9 aperture and has optical image stabilization along with a 48MP ultra-wide lens with a 128-degree field of view, and a 48MP periscope cum telephoto lens that comes with 5x optical zoom and up to 120x digital zoom. On the front is a 32MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls.
It comes with a 6.73-inch 2K AMOLED display with 1500 nits of peak brightness, 120Hz fast refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. For internals, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The rest of the specifications is the same as the other two variants in the series apart from that it has bigger 4860 mAh battery cells.
Pricing:
The Xiaomi 12S Pro is priced at CNY 5,999 for the base 8GB + 256GB variant, CNY 6,499 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, and CNY 6,999 for the 12GB + 512GB variant.
The 12S Pro is priced at CNY 4,699 for the base 8GB + 128GB variant, CNY 4,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant, CNY 5,399 for the 12GB + 256GB, and CNY 5,899 for the 12GB + 512GB variant.
The standard Xiaomi 12S is priced at CNY 3,999 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, CNY 4,299 for the 8GB + 256GB variant, CNY 4,699 for the 12GB + 256GB variant, and the CNY 5,199 for the 12GB + 512GB variant.
