Xiaomi India Launched Mi Smart Speaker With Google Assistant

While Xiaomi is known only for its smartphones around the world, it’s actually making a larger IoT network with a range of home gadgets. But since most of those devices were made for the Chinese market, they were never acknowledged by foreign users. But now, it’s bringing a brand new smart speaker named Mi Smart Speaker.

Xiaomi Launches a Cheap Smart Speaker in India

This speaker’s model seems to be inspired by many others in its space, like the cylindrical compact design from Bose’s Home speaker and a lightning ring on the top edges from Amazon’s Alexa lineup. The new Xiaomi smart speaker comes with a 2.5″ driver for delivering the 12W sound output, and Xiaomi suggests to pair up with another unit of this model to have the stereo experience.

With the metal plating on the top housing physical buttons, it has two far-field microphones to catch your voice commands from distance. Finally, it comes with Google Assistant as an inbuilt voice assistant, and also with Chromecast support. It can speak in English and Hindi since launching initially in India for Rs.3,999.

This can be bought at Rs.3,499 as an introductory price until the end of Diwali, a festival in India ending in mid-October, via Flipkart, Mi.com and Xiaomi’s retail stores. Users can set up this speaker with the Google Home app and it comes with a year free subscription of Gaana, a local music streaming service.
