Xiaomi is working on its Under-Display selfie camera for a while. The company already showed some prototype previously, and now it is confirmed that the Xiaomi first device with an under-display camera will launch in 2021.

Ice Universe, a famous tipster, posted a demo video on twitter, a video of the new version of Mi 10 Ultra with an Under-display camera. According to him, Xiaomi will also start the mass production of this technology in 2021.

Xiaomi seems to be working on this technology for quite some time. They showed the demo of a prototype in a video in June 2019. After that, in May 2020, they filed the patent for the same technology in China.

Xiaomi launched Mi 10 Ultra recently to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The device featured the most powerful specs in a smartphone, including the 125 W fast charging. It is the first commercially available device that supports 125W fast charging. The camera on the Mi 10 Ultra can zoom up to 120X, and it tops the DxOMark ratings for the best camera. Unfortunately, the device is only available in China and hasn’t been made up of the international market until now.

Although, Xiaomi is not the first OEM to launch a device with the under-display camera. ZTE takes the lead as their upcoming flagship ZTE Axon 20 will be launching with an under-display camera. It will arrive on the 1st of September 2020 and be the first device with this new technology. ZTE will not only take the lead over Xiaomi but also Oppo as Oppo is also working on the same technology since June 2019.
