Over the past couple of years, Samsung has been using an in-display fingerprint scanner for it’s flagship and some upper mid-range devices. Samsung introduced an in-display fingerprint scanner for the first time on the Samsung Galaxy S20 series and later bring this into the upper mid-range A series devices like A52 and A72.

Not all Samsung devices have the same in-display fingerprint scanner. There is an ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner on the flagship S series and Note series whereas there is an optical in-display fingerprint scanner on the upper mid-range A series devices. However, there is a huge difference in the speed of the in-display fingerprint scanner and the capacitive fingerprint scanner. In this article, we will show you how to improve the speed of an in-display fingerprint scanner on your Samsung Galaxy smartphones. This guide also works for the capacitive fingerprint scanner on Samsung and other OEM devices.

You do not need any third-party application or mod or root your device to make the fingerprint faster. Make sure that you backup your device before moving further in the tutorial. The first thing you need to do is to factory data reset your device after backing up all the important data. Once your device is set up after factory data reset, the next thing you need to do is to check the software update. If any software update is available, download it and update your device.

The next thing you need to do is set up your fingerprint biometrics. If you already set up fingerprint biometrics during the Android setup procedure when you factory reset your device, delete those fingerprints and set up a new one. Every OEM allows users to add up to four fingerprints so you can add four fingerprints here also. To make the fingerprint scanner speed faster add the same fingerprint twice or more.

Open Settings app.

Navigate Biometrics and security and tap on it.

In that choose Fingerprints.

If you have already set up a pin/pattern, your phone will ask that. Enter it.

Next up you will see options to register a fingerprint. Enter fingerprint of the same finger at least twice. It will improve the speed and accuracy of the scanner.

Now lock your device and unlock it using the fingerprint scanner. You will definitely feel the improvement in speed and accuracy.
